Russ Ohrt

Russ grew up in suburbia. In 1996, he started apprenticing on small-scale organic and bio-dynamic farms. Over the next 13 years, he took on horse farming, commune-living, Old Order Mennonite life, a year of bio-dynamic school in Germany, caring for livestock, field cropping and vegetable growing, horticultural therapy, and community garden coordination in Hamilton along the way.

Anchored in the incredible Strathcona neighbourhood with Liz and their three children, Russ considers the relationships he forms as an urban farmer as the fulfillment of an amazing dream. Other perks are rain on kale leaves, a cool breeze on a hot hot day and Liz’ delicious cooking.

Russ also loves music.
