Rose Janson

Rose Janson has been mucking about with organic farming since 1982, growing vegetables, garlic and herbs as well as poultry and some fruits. Her stand graced various Farmers’ Markets in Ontario, most recently in Cambridge (16 years), under the banner “Rose Grows Organically….Let food be your medicine.” This ancient message from Hippocrates inspires her work and thinking.

Teaching and writing has also supported the ongoing search. Why are so many in Canada and in the world hungry? For Rose, trying to understand the politics of food and food systems overlaps naturally with activism in various other social justice issues.

Rose recently moved to Hamilton, as she no longer drives. How thrilling to meet Russ and have the opportunity to work with Backyard Harvest!
