Julia Hitchcock

Julia has been growing organic vegetables since 2001.   Along the way she has done a little or a lot of growing or otherwise working with medicinal plants, organic cut flowers, organic fruit, seeds, and wild edibles.  She has worked with Plan B Organic Farm, Underground Organics, Children’s Lands Canada, Four Winds Farm in BC, and the Apothecary’s Garden in Hamilton’s Westdale neighbourhood.  Backyard Harvest is the only urban farm on that list:  it is special because of getting to do farming by bicycle instead of by car, because the community connections include the neighbourhood, and because all the folks at Backyard Harvest are so kind and wonderful to work with. When Julia is not enjoying being with plants she is enjoying her children, friends, and the birds.
